The Exhibition - celebrating the original Lights of Leamington festival with stories from the people who were there

Switched On Stories have collected and curated memories and mementoes from the original Lights of Leamington Festival and are thrilled to present an exhibition that shines a light on this slice of local, post-war history.

Switch on your curiosity and discover more about the history on our doorstep.

With stories that illuminate the joy and excitement of community coach trips to join the celebrations in town, cheeky ways to sneak into the gardens for free, to heartwarming personal recollections of a town emerging from post-war austerity, the exhibition captures memories of rainbow-lit trees, magical animal installations, spectacular skylines, music, dancing and flamboyant firework displays designed to lift the post-war spirits.

The Exhibition revisits and recreates some of the magic of the original festival as told by the people who were there - translating the archive of black and white images into a kaleidoscope of colour and preserving the lived experiences for posterity.

The Exhibition will feature Audio Description to assist with access.

To take advantage of this, please bring your mobile phone and a set of headphones/earbuds and on arrival, we will help you to set up.
